Didn't think there was going to be a Pt. 2, but, what the heck, right?
A short time ago I posted a blog titled, MESQUITE... HERE WE COME
Without going into a thing, that turned into MESQUITE... MAYBE SOME OTHER TIME.
THEN... I posted a blog about putting together a new Las Vegas cast, as we were going to do two shows in August of this year; at the Summerlin Library Theatre.
WE'RE STIILL GOING TO PERFORM... at the Summerlin Library Theatre - only not this August.
The good folks at Clark County Library System and us agreed. The mid-week dates we had discussed weren't good for attracting a sizable audience. So, we looked at performance opportunities in 2026, and it looks like we've come up with something that mutually benefits both the theatre and our show, NOW I GET IT.
WILL HAVE... more information to pass on to everyone later this coming week.
CASTING... so far, we have a fantastic cast! Still have one more adult role to cast, and that should be done tomorrow, when I'm in Las Vegas finishing up casting, AND... I'm taking a different approach with some of the casting this time. More on that later.
Going to give you a brief introduction to those I have cast now, and will give more detailed Bios on the entire cast as we get closer to going into rehearsals.

BEVERLY ASHCRAFT
as Peggy Kettleman
Bottom line... a community theatre, Off-Broadway, and Broadway resume that reads longer than my juvenile arrest record - lol!
AND... it is an honor to tell you that Beverly is a GOLD STAR Mother and Vietnam veteran widow.

JOHN McCLAIN
as Don Kettleman
Yes... that his real name.
John was raised in a military family.
Hs dad, a career Marine officer, and although his dad an I never met. We were just a chopper ride from each other during the TET Offensive of 1968, in Vietnam.
His DOG & PONY SHOW STUDIOS is well know, not only in Las Vegas, but nationally as well, for GRAMMY AWARD winning sound mixing and production.

MELODIE GAYNOR
as Marg Olivas
Loves being on stage. Been on stage all her life, AND... Voice Over artist extraordinaire!

BRIAN SCOTT
as Bobby Olivas
His resume in Las Vegas community theatre spans twenty years, which translates to performing in 33 plays and directing four.

EDITH ELLITHORPE
as Terri Macklin
Classically trained… over 25 years of international theatre credits… a voice… a certified dance teacher… a choreographer. She’s not just a “Triple threat” performer. She’s a “QUADRUPLE THREAT” performer.
All the casts involved in taking NOW I GET IT from stage to page, are special to me.
These guys in particular... not only are they good actors, but ALL of them, themselves or with other members of their families, have real life experience with life in the military. It comes through in a look in the eyes, a tone of voice when saying a line, a nod of understanding when listening to another character's lines. They come through with things you just can't fake.
Regardless of it being an A-List male or female actor... ANY VET, can watch that actor play a military character, and tell you whether that actor has actually been in the military.
For those who are reading this blog for the first time, OR... for those not familiar with the story line of NOW I GET IT.
Click on the NOW I GET IT page of this website. Scroll down to the trailer and click on it.
Music samples are accessible on that page as well.
Thanks for reading my blog!
