A musical about Iva Toguri…a woman who had her American citizenship revoked and served 9 years in prison…for being a woman who never existed.
A NEW MUSICAL - Three Marine Vietnam vets decide that after 50-some odd years, they can look back and laugh, cry, and talk about the war... and the wife of one of them, she's "the last first wife standing", decides it's okay to talk about the war... at home.
“The mark of a good playwright is the ability to take suggestions from fresh eyes. The mark of a good director is the same. I’ve witnessed Loren do both with his 'Domestic Violence: The Musical' to excellent results.”
~ Paul Atreides; Author, Playwright, Theatre Critic
THE REDEMPTION OF LONNIE TATE
1966: thanks to a judge, a smart-ass kid named Lonnie Tate finds himself in the Marine Corps and in Vietnam. When he comes home sixteen months later, he and two of his Marine buddies are recruited by the CIA.
Fast-forward to 2010: a not-so-chance reunion with one of his Marine buddies from Vietnam pulls him back into a life where he was at his best when he was at his worst.
His buddy’s team has undertaken a lose-lose op: if it succeeds, it hands the world over to jihadists. If it fails…failure is not an option. There’s a missing piece to the puzzle, and only Lonnie can find it.
Problem is… Lonnie is a lot older now; and though still proficient at being at his best when he’s at his worst, for Lonnie, there’s a lot more to lose.
In this look into Lonnie Tate’s backstory, we learn the origins of his enduring friendship with Marcus Pentangelo and Brian Shapiro. A friendship born in the United States Marine Corps.
Lonnie Tate, a smartass kid who joins the Marine Corps, because he didn’t want to go to jail.
Marcus Pentangelo joins the Marine Corps to tick off his liberal, Yale college professor father.
Brian Shapiro, the grandson of a well-connected, prominent philanthropist on the east coast. Shapiro has made it already; but his idea of "making it", is by earning it on his own. Not on the coat tails of his grandfather.
